Nuke It is a mobile app whose purpose is to estimate the time required to reheat, cook, or defrost various foods.
The application first requires the user to choose from previous assigned microwave oven profiles. If no profiles have been set up, or the oven has not been used in conjunction with the app before, the user make quickly create a profile by either attempting to autofill the information from app’s database, or the user may simply fill in the two simple required pieces of information: the oven’s wattage and the presence of a turning table, which can easily be determined in most cases by examining the oven itself. The oven profile may be saved with the checking of a box, or it may be discarded after the session.
After a microwave profile has been chosen or created, the user is directed to a food selection page. A long list of food items populates in a scrolling area. Once the user selects an item, then will then indicate the quantity they intend to heat. The units, such as pieces, slices, ounces, etc., are auto-selected, but in cases where a food may be quantified with multiple units, the field will become a dropdown box. Now, the user hits the “NUKE” button when they are ready.
The third and final page provides the heating instructions, consisting of a single large cooking time and power level. In addition, a third box will populate with special cooking instructions.
